Registration now OPEN for the 2018 Retreat!

Registration is now open for the Maritime Spinners Retreat in Miramichi, NB from October 19-21, 2018. Our theme is Fantastic Fleece!

We hope everyone who owns fibre animals will consider bringing their fleeces to sell at the vending hall. We will also be looking for anyone who would like to offer a short demo/workshop on fiber processing.

2018 Spinners Retreat – Miramichi, New Brunswick


The 2018 Spinners Retreat will take place from October 19-21, 2018 in Miramichi, NB at the Rodd Miramichi. This is where the retreat was held in 2012. Hotel reservations can be made now by calling 1-800-565-RODD. They will ask the specific location (Rodd Miramichi) and you should tell them you are with the Maritime Spinners Retreat. The standard room rate is $129+tax per night.

2017 Retreat: Simply Luxury

The Maritime Spinners Retreat, founded in the year 2000 in Prince Edward Island, is an annual event for hand-spinners. This travelling retreat changes location and is hosted in turn by a variety of spinning groups from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, though participants travel from the United States and Central Canada to participate as well. This year (2017), the Maritime Spinner’s Retreat is being hosted by the Atlantic Spinners and Handweavers guild.

2015 Back to Basics Retreat Info!!

Well here are the details!  After weeks of crunching numbers, we are pleased to announce the full weekend fee of $115 for the 2015 Retreat.

Registration is on a first come basis and you are “in” as soon as your cheque is received.  Booking a hotel room does not automatically give you a spot at the retreat.  This year, spinning space is particularly limited*.

Your $115.00 covers all spinning activities, delicious lunch and supper buffet catered by Chef Carson Edward from Dune View Restaurant, welcoming snacks on Friday evenings, and morning/afternoon snacks on Saturday (including taxes and tips).

Registration procedures are kept to a bare minimum.  Simply send your cheques ($115.00 payable to Maritimes Spinners Retreat 2015) along with your name, e-mail contact and phone number to: Maritimes Spinners Retreat 2015, 595 Dover Rd, Dieppe NB, Canada, E1A 7L8.  Specify dietary requirement if any.  Confirmation will be by e-mail.

The Auberge Bouctouche Inn&Suites will be opening on April 11, 2015 (toll free 1-888-450-2244).  A block of rooms has been put aside for us so remember to mention the retreat when you book your room ($85/night + tx).  A continental breakfast is included in the room price and an extra charge applies for more than 2 people in the room.  All rooms are equipped with a mini-fridge and a micro-wave oven.

Timetable and activity details will be posted in the coming months but we are planning a MITTENS CONTEST so you can start spinning and checking for mittens ideas!

As usual, there will be a brief introductory session for new spinners on Saturday morning. Beginners should come with equipment (yours or borrowed) and at least a bit of practice in forming yarn.


Registration deadline, September 5th.

Except for the continental breakfast, no food is served at the Auberge but our catered meals.

This means that all of those wanting to join us for the meals at the Auberge on Saturday must be registered with us.  Note that there are restaurants and coffee shop very close to the Auberge.

Also there is no elevator in the Auberge; the spinning room and the eating room are situated on different floors.

You are on your own for supper Friday evening.

*With so many interesting fiber related activities happening in October this year, we wondered if people would come to the Spinners Retreat.  But we just could not skip a year without at least a chance of getting together for the simple joy of spinning!!  However, we are also realistic…  Hence this year, the Retreat is organised in a smaller venue with spinning space for about 40 wheels.

Cancellation Policy:
The Cancellation date for the 2015 Retreat is September 5th.  A full refund will be given when you send written notification to Manon Mallet,  email  –

 After September 5th we will hold back a 20% administration fee.

If you cancel after September 25th a refund will only be issued if there are sufficient funds remaining after the Retreat. The 20% Admin fee will apply but we will do our best to refund as much as possible because we know that no spinner would miss a Retreat without a drastic reason!
